Joel Sundkvist is one of today’s most prominent young guitarists to emerge from Sweden. He is combining teaching with performing, both as a soloist and as a chamber musician.
Education
He has studied with Frank Sjölander at Framnäs College of Music and with Professor Jan-Olof Eriksson and Tilman Hoppstock at the The School of Music in Piteå at Luleå University of Technology. Joel has completed a Bachelor of Arts in Music Pedagogy and a Master of Fine Arts with a major in Music. For his debut concert he was the soloist in Joaquin Rodrigo’s famous Concierto de Aranjuez with Luleå Symphony Orchestra.
Joel has also been a frequent participant in master classes for a number of renowned guitarists, including Marco Socias, Elena Papandreou and Eric Lammers.
Awards and nominations
Joel has recieved several awards including the 2003 Annual Music Price from Norrbottensakademien and the 2004 Annual Music Price for a young musican from Kungliga Skytteanska Samfundet.
